In this book, Sir Walter Raleigh describes his first voyage to Guiana. Raleigh imagines that Elizabeth could form an alliance with the mythical Amazon society of women. He fantasizes that Elizabeth might then become the ruler of the Inca and lead Native Americans in a struggle against Spanish domination.
